Institute

Last night was my first institute class in a while. I always loved going because it's the right kind of education that you can take with you after you die and be able to actually use it.

This semester we are studying the first half of the Book of Mormon.
  • 1 Nephi
  • 2 Nephi (...more of Nephi's writings)
  • Jacob (Nephi's bother)
  • Enos (Jacob's son)
  • Jarom (Enos' son)
  • Omni (Jarom's son)
  • Words of Mormon
  • Mosiah

The classes are once a week for an hour and a half and anyone can go and its free! It's a more casual environment than church on Sunday and you are supposed to read ahead and participate in class discussions. It's fun and educational.

Last night we talked about why it's important to go to institute and all the good that can come from it. Then we talked about the 12 witnesses who's testimonies are in the beginning of the Book of Mormon stating that they all saw and some handled the actual golden plates that Joseph Smith Jr. translated from. The readings can be found here: http://lds.org/scriptures/bofm/introduction?lang=eng

I mean really, they wrote it, we read it and then we decide on if they are lying or telling the truth by how we feel when we pray about it.

They did their part and I have to do my part and learn about this great thing and way of life that is taught.
